People will hold dragon boat races, eat rice dumplings, drink realgar wine and other celebrations. There are many theories about the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, the most popular one is to commemorate Qu Yuan. It is said that after Qu Yuan committed suicide by throwing himself into the river, people held celebrations such as dragon boat races, rice dumpling making and horse racing on the fifth day of May every year to commemorate him.
